Crashing In The Darkness

I'm sitting on a patio balcony

tonight

having a smoke before bed

the sound of the waves crashing on the beach

in the distance

in the dark.

I can see the ocean from up here.

Pitch black with little lines of white

rolling over and tumbling down

as those waves keep on crashing

out there in the darkness

as I keep hitting these keys

and as the cigarette burns

it all just keeps on going

all of us

just crashing in the darkness.
